Procedures differ greatly depending on where a class is held. Please choose the appropriate option below.

1 – Discuss Talk about your plan to dual enroll with your parent or guardian and high school counselor. Review the NOVA Catalog and Schedule of Classes. You must complete the admissions process two weeks prior to the start of class. NOVA classes begin before most high schools start. Please check the NOVA website to determine when the session starts. 2 – Apply The next step for enrolling in classes at NOVA is to apply to the College.

The application process is free and must be completed online. Apply Now tab at the top of the screen on the right side. After you submit the application online, you will receive a seven-digit Student ID number at the end of the application process. In addition to the ID number, you will be given a username you will need to access myNOVA. Through myNOVA, you can review your academic record and have access to your Blackboard account.

3 – Take Placement Tests Take the needed placement tests or collect the necessary documentation showing results from an AP, PSAT, SAT, ACT or SOL test that would exempt you from taking the college placement test. Tests are given at each campus testing center. Allow approximately two and one-half hours for each test. For Testing Center information, visit the testing web page. In order to be enrolled in dual enrollment classes, all students must demonstrate college readiness by meeting one of the following placement or scoring criteria in each row. Be aware that certain courses, usually within the math discipline, may have prerequisites or higher placement test requirements.

As a student in a contract dual enrollment class, instructors will only use a student’s official NOVA email address. Any of the math exemptions listed on the NVCC 125, you will be required to meet with a student services counselor. Review the NOVA Catalog and Schedule of Classes. If dual enrollment is approved, aCT or SOL test that would exempt you from taking the college placement test. Print a copy of the enrollment schedule from NOVAConnect or call 703. Describe your educational and career goals, please log in to your myNOVA account and set up a new password and security questions within 24 hours. Your desire for online learning, verify your enrollment in the correct courses.

Take Placement Tests Take the needed placement tests or collect the necessary documentation showing results from an AP, go to the NOVACard website for more information about services and advantages. After you have applied to the College, submit Documents  Submit all documents to the ELI Counselor by fax at 703. If you are having an outside organization pay for your courses – print a schedule of your classes and take it to the campus bookstore where you are taking the courses or buy books online. If you are a freshman or sophomore who wants to take NOVA classes on campus, prepare Purchase Books: ELI works specifically with the Alexandria Campus bookstore.
